Buying Clothes for a Newborn
27 Jul, 2021

On the surface, it's picturesque. New parents browsing through clothes for their newborn. It's a beautiful feeling. Below the surface, it's anxiety. New parents can definitely relate to this. Parenting is no easy task- you never know what isn't working and the only feedback you'll get it a crying baby. Young parents are definitely anxious about everything, and they have good reason to be. But we are here to help you with that. In this blog, let's talk about what you should keep in mind while buying clothes for a newborn.

1. Getting the Fabric Right

There are many types of cotton out there, and a lot more synthetic fabrics have made their way to the market. However, nothing beats pure cotton when it comes to comfort. Pure cotton is soft and breathable and that's why we at Kandyfloss only use pure cotton for our products. Because a baby's skin is the softest during infancy and it deserves our best care.

2. Keep an eye out for irritants

Uneven stitches are very irritating. So are loose threads. And don't even get us started on the sewed labels. All these can chafe at a baby's skin leading to rashes and spots that could be hard to get rid of. At Kandyfloss, such irritants find no place in our products. We steer clear of anything that can potentially harm your baby's skin.

3. Washing Instructions

Different fabrics need different care. Some fabrics tend to fade after the first wash. Some might not be suited to the detergent you usually use. That's why it is always advisable to read the washing instructions first before making a purchase. With a little amount of care, clothes can remain in good condition for quite some time.

4. Getting the size Right

While shopping for a baby, always keep in mind that you are buying for a growing body. A really neat trick is to buy a size or two larger since that way clothes can last longer.  Another trick is to keep a margin of two-three months max while buying clothes. Also, never buy kid's wear in bulk.

5. Meal Time Clothes

Let's face it. Kids, especially infants change their clothes about four times a day. Mostly this happens during the meal times when they are wrestling with their food. So instead of switching bib after bib which offer limited protection why not have a pair dedicated for meal times? That way, the other clothes get to live stain-free longer.
