Raising a child is more hectic than a full-time job. And there cannot be any lapse in attention to details. Especially when it comes to taking care of the child's clothes. Taking care of infant clothes can be a daunting task, but we have some tips that you can find handy.
1. Always Use a mild, non-fragrant detergent
A baby's skin is the softest during infancy. Some detergents add artificial fragrance which can irritate the skin and may cause rashes. In order to avoid those, steer clear of artificially added fragrant detergents for baby clothes. Using mild detergents specially made for infants is a good choice, but do keep an eye out for the unwanted artificial perfume infusers.
2. Rinse Thrice
One for the detergent. Two for the water. Three for the baby. That soft baby skin doesn't deserve prickly residue detergent sticking on the clothes. No matter how mild a detergent is, the residue detergent is definitely harmful for the kids especially because kids tend to lick and suck on their sleeves. Thorough rinsing is especially important to prevent residue detergent.
3. Dry them Inside-Out under the Sun
It is important for baby clothes to dry completely and drying them under the sun is the best option. However, harsh sun can quickly discolour the fabric making it look older than it actually is. To prevent this, dry the clothes inside out under the sun. This way the trapped moisture also evaporates quickly.
4. Do not wring them
Wearing baby clothes might be the easiest way to destroy the elasticity and the overall look. You wouldn't want that to happen. Instead of wringing, lightly press on the fabric and hang them up to dry in the sun. Alternatively, using the washing machine dryer is a good option but do remember to keep the pace low.
5. Use mild antiseptic
We are living through a time when every household is stocking up on antiseptic liquids and sanitisers to fight infections. If you wish to use antiseptic liquid for washing baby clothes, do keep an eye out on the strength level. Some formulas could be too strong for sensitive skin.
